We book into the software you already run
The question every practice asks first is whether we can actually write to the schedule, or whether we just take a message and email it over. We write to the schedule. Here is how each system connects — including the one case where it works differently, because you should hear that from us and not find out on a Saturday.
Open Dental — our deepest integration
Open Dental publishes an open API. No reseller in the middle and no waiting on a certification queue. We read your schedule live and write the appointment back while the patient is still on the phone.
This is where we do our best work. If you are choosing practice software and have not committed yet, it is the one we would point you at.
- Read open slots in real time
- Book the appointment during the call
- Match appointment type and length to what the patient described
- Write insurance details to the patient record
- Update and cancel
Dentrix and Eaglesoft — through certified integration partners
Dentrix (Henry Schein) and Eaglesoft (Patterson) are closed ecosystems. Neither hands out direct API access to a company our size, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
We reach them the way most modern tools do: through integration partners who have already been through those certification processes. It works, it is a normal way to do this, and it is not a private arrangement we have with Henry Schein or Patterson.
We are not a Dentrix or Patterson partner, and we do not display their logos. Any vendor who implies otherwise is worth a second look.
The part most vendors do not mention
Dentrix and Eaglesoft run on a server in your office. Connecting to them means a small piece of software runs on that server and keeps your schedule in sync.
If that server is switched off, the sync pauses. Nights, weekends, a power cut, an IT update — the assistant still answers every call and still captures the patient, but it cannot see live availability while the server is dark.
That matters, because after hours is exactly when you most want a call answered. So here is what happens in that window: the assistant takes the booking, tells the patient plainly that the practice will confirm the exact time when the office opens, and it lands in your schedule the moment the server is back. The patient is captured either way. What changes is whether the slot is confirmed on the call or first thing next morning.
If your server stays on overnight, none of this applies and booking is live around the clock. Most practices can simply leave it on — we check this with you during setup rather than discover it later.
Curve, Denticon and Dentrix Ascend — the simplest case
Cloud practice software has no server in your building to switch off, so live booking works at 3am exactly as it does at 3pm. If you are on one of these, this is the most straightforward version of what we do.
Something else?
There are a lot of practice management systems and we have not listed all of them. Tell us what you run and we will tell you honestly whether we can write to it, only read from it, or cannot connect to it yet.
A straight "not yet" is a better outcome for both of us than a migration you did not ask for.
What we will never tell you
- That we are an official partner of a company we have no agreement with.
- That an integration is live when it is on a roadmap.
- That your data is somewhere it is not.
If a vendor's integrations page is a wall of logos with no explanation of how any of them connect, that page is telling you something.
